Joseph Feaster Appointed to Boston’s Reparations Task Force
Joseph D. Feaster, Jr. has been appointed by Mayor Michelle Wu as chair of the City’s new Reparations task force charged with examining Boston’s participation in the institution of slavery and making recommendations on how the city can start repairing the legacy from that era. The task force is the product of an ordinance adopted by the City Council.

Dain Torpy Announces New Firm Shareholder and Director Michael J. McDermott
Dain Torpy is pleased to announce that Michael J. McDermott has been elected a Shareholder and Director of the firm.
A member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, Mike’s practice focuses on the litigation and resolution of zoning, land use, real estate, and environmental disputes. He also counsels clients through due diligence and permitting, and serves as outside general counsel for a number of condominium associations. Mike has argued and tried cases in the Massachusetts District, Superior, and Land Courts, as well as the United States Immigration Court. Most recently, Mike won a multi-day Land Court trial upholding the grant of a Section 6 finding and special permit in Edgartown. Mike’s recent summary judgment victory for a Landlord client, confirming tenant’s breach of lease in the face of tenant’s raised COVID-19 related defenses, facilitated a multi-million dollar settlement. Mike’s recent election as Shareholder and Director reflects the skill, trust, and value that his clients and the firm have in him.
