What drew you to focus your practice on commercial real estate law?
When I was in law school, I knew pretty early on that I wanted to stay on the “transactional” side of the law – litigation was not my thing. I happened to do an internship with a small residential/boutique law firm, and that sparked my interest in real estate. After a few years of practicing residential real estate, I wanted more of a challenge, and decided to focus my practice on commercial real estate law.
How do you balance your professional and personal life, and what strategies do you use to maintain well-being and avoid burnout?
Since becoming a mother, it has become very difficult to balance both my professional and personal life, as both aspects are very demanding of time. I often remind myself to give myself grace if my focus is skewed more towards one area of my life versus the other. There are days where my kids get more of me than my work, and there are other days where work gets more attention than my kids – I find comfort in the fact that I have an amazing village of people supporting me, both at home and at the office, and that it does not always have to be in balance.
What is your favorite meal to cook?
I love to cook. My favorite go-to meal to cook is a sautéed seafood dish, based on a dish at a now-closed restaurant my family used to frequent. It’s a sauté pan with clams, calamari, shrimp, mussels, ground hot Italian sausage, in a garlicky red sauce. Best served with crusty bread!
Where is your favorite place to take a vacation?
