Katherine Braucher Adams
Katherine Braucher Adams is Counsel whose practice focuses on Massachusetts land use, zoning and permitting, and municipal licensing matters. She represents developers, property owners, and business operators in connection with the permitting and regulatory approval of multifamily housing, senior living facilities, and commercial development projects, including comprehensive permits under Chapter 40B of the Massachusetts General Laws.
Ms. Adams regularly represents clients before city councils, zoning boards of appeal, planning boards, historic commissions, and other municipal permitting authorities throughout Greater Boston. She works closely with developers, consultants, and municipal officials to guide projects through local land use and zoning approval processes. Her practice also includes advising property owners on easements and other property-related agreements.
In addition to her land use and development practice, Ms. Adams represents businesses in licensing and regulatory matters before local licensing authorities and state agencies, including the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission and the Cannabis Control Commission. Her clients include operators of cannabis cultivation facilities and dispensaries, restaurants, business incubators, daycare facilities, adult day health programs, and educational institutions.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Adams served as a Judicial Clerk in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court from 2002 to 2004. In that role, she worked closely with the court on abroad range of civil matters, assisting judges with legal research, drafting memoranda and decisions, and gaining substantial experience in trial court procedure and judicial decision-making. Before joining Dain, Torpy, Le Ray, Wiest & Garner, P.C., she practiced at Schlesinger and Buchbinder LLP in Newton, Massachusetts.

Multifamily Developments
- West Newton: 302-unit residential development with approximately 8,300 square feet of ancillary retail space; represented developer in obtaining a Chapter 40B comprehensive permit.
- Newton/Watertown Line: 204-unit residential development with approximately 4,400 square feet of ancillary retail and commercial space; represented developer in obtaining a Chapter 40B comprehensive permit.
- Newton Highlands: 370-unit residential development on Charlemont Street; represented developer in obtaining a Chapter 40B comprehensive permit.
Senior Living Developments
- Newton Corner: 233-bed senior housing facility consisting of independent living, assisted living, and memory care units; represented developer and operator in obtaining a special permit.
- Chestnut Hill: 106-bed senior living facility consisting of assisted living and memory care units; represented operator in obtaining a special permit.
- Newton/Needham Line: 174-unit congregate care facility; represented operator in obtaining a special permit.
- Auburndale: 42-unit expansion of a senior living campus incorporating the relocation of a historic home; represented Lasell Village in obtaining historic commission and municipal approvals.
